In a magazine today I was reading the 'advice' column, there were a couple of 'letters' written by people who had lost contact with their grandchildren.
What always concerns me with these columns is the advice that follows.
How 'expert' are the people who respond, do they actually have any experience at all in the problem they are dishing out advice for?
This particular 'expert' was saying things like, make sure you talk to Social Services who will help you and that of course grandparents having a relationship with their grandchildren is 'in the child's best interest,' and that SS are legally obliged to act in the child's best interest, for me and the million other grandparents in the UK would say this is fiction, it is certainly not fact.
It is not reality, giving people false hope is not helpful.
